Baker Park Nordic
Baker Park Nordic is a new summer ski training program for middle- and
high school skiers of all ability levels. Workouts include technique,
strength, and endurance training. Baker Park provides great trails and
a very safe rollerski trail - no sharp turns or road crossings.
Great for beginners!
Minnesota high school skiing is highly competitive and getting more so
every year. Do you want to go to State? Junior Nationals? Get faster.

Activities will include
Videotaping and technique analysis
Hiking/Running with poles
Dryland strength training
Planning your training
Winning the mental game
Strong desire to improve your skiing
Willingness to define your goals
Maintenance of a training log
Skate rollerskis (+ poles boots)
Helmet (must be worn for all rollerskiing)
Water bottle belt or Camelback
Watch with stopwatch
Rollerskiing or biking gloves
Classic rollerskis (+ poles boots)
Skiers with time constraints can sign up for one day a week only.
Online Training Log
Participants in the Baker Park Nordic Summer Program get access to our
custom online training log. The log uses the same model used by the
world's best skiers. It allows you to plan your training goals and see
how your actual training compares to the plan.
David Gardiner, Ph.D. is a Birkie/Korte age group winner, head
coach at Orono High School, elite runner, and Olympic class sailboat racer.
Kati Campbell is an Elite Wave Birkie skier and has won her age group in every race she has entered. Extensive experience coaching high school and adult skiers in both technique and sports psychology.
Guest coaches will include
Jan Guenther placed second overall in the American Birkebeiner. Five-time
Mora Vasaloppet winner. Ironman triathlon Masters champion.
Co-owner of Gear West with Brian Knutson.
Brian Knutson was the 1977 Minnesota State Nordic Ski champion and has
coached Nordic skiing at Montana State.
